At our Annual Meeting on Sunday, February 12, our membership voted for two Board Members to continue with a second term: Renée Piere and Laura Christensen. In addition, they voted two new members onto the Board: Jean Rodgers and Rev. Violet Schonhardt.

At our Board meeting on February 14, the Board selected officers using a spiritual discernment process. We will be conducting the Installation ceremony on Sunday, February 19. Here is your 2012 Board of Trustees:

Let Us Know of Your Interest in Being a Member of the USLC Board of Trustees

We currently have two vacancies on the Board of Trustees, and are looking for exceptional, well-qualified candidates to fill them! According to our Bylaws, qualifications include USLC membership of at least one year, attendance of at least one 5-week Unity-related class, and attendance at at least one Board Orientation Training Class. If you feel you meet these qualifications, and would like to throw your name in the ring for consideration, we excitedly invite you to download our Board-Application. Once you complete it, just email or hand it to any Board member. If you have problems downloading the form, or have other questions, feel free to contact any Board member, including our ministers, and they will be happy to talk with you.

We have had an opportunity to review the recent Survey, and want to thank everyone who participated. Your comments and suggestions were extremely helpful and informative. We are working on several specific actions in response to your feedback, which we will be sharing with you over the next several weeks and months. Orientation to Being on the Board: Training Class — January 22, 2011

Are you interested in becoming a Board Trustee at USLC? Are you interested in what is involved in being on our Board? Do you want to know what goes on “behind the curtain?”

We invite you to come be a part of special training session, led by our own Revs. Bil & Cher Holton.

Date: Saturday, January 22, 2011

Time: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Information covered will include:

• Understanding the various sizes of ministries to help ministers and boards more effectively serve their congregations and follow Spirit’s calling for the ministry;
• Field Dynamics of our Ministry
• The 3-Legged Stool Concept, and the Role of the Board in Keeping It Solid
• Setting the Board Up for Success: 3 Key Questions to Answer
• Clarifying Roles & Expectations of Board Members [and how members interact with the congregation and the minister(s)]
• Confidentiality: What It Is, Why It’s Non-negotiable, and When There is an Exception

Sign up is required for this program, so we can be sure we have enough materials. Each participant will receive a detailed workbook. This will be an interactive class, with time included for discussion and questions. We hope you will consider joining us!
